Photographer & Book editor – Benin specialist
Born in 1980 in Strasbourg, I began my professional life as a marine firefighter in Marseille and then became a paramedic in both the public and private sectors. From this time, the need for sharing and empathy remained within me.
In 2008, as an avid, self-taught photographer, I decided to pursue things professionally. I embarked upon on a journey around the world, taking photographs for French institutions abroad. On a more personal level, I began taking a series of photographs largely focused on human beings.
Whether a blue-eyed child in Benin, a woman in a red scarf in a field of red peppers, a woman selling umbrellas in Myanmar, a child playing in the ruins of a kasbah in Morocco, or a young Bedouin girl in Petra, Jordan, these photographs are, above all, encounters. Through them, I try to convey the emotions felt, including the joy of having shared a moment with someone on the other side of the world.
I hate saying « good-bye ». Having formed attachments to these people, I often go back to see them in order to pay tribute to them and offer them the finished portraits.
In 2017, after nearly ten years of crisscrossing Africa, the Middle East and Asia, I moved to Benin. For the needs of one of my clients, I acquired a drone and got the taste for this. In February 2019, my first book, « SOUFFLE, le Bénin vu du ciel », became available. Then in September 2019, I founded Editions Miwa with my girlfriend in order to market my photo books.
My photographs are available as signed and numbered fine art prints through the ArtPhotoLimited platform. In Benin, my prints and books are available at ExpatHome.
I now reside in Nice, splitting my time between France, Benin and the rest of the world.
